The Story Continues

Over on the main site at Find it Here the story continues with some more of my first stretch in Modesto, California. I am already working on the next chapter. I've gotten some great email from old friends/fans and this week I HAVE to answer some of them. It was great to hear from Captain Billy last month and when I checked this morning Bob Brokeman...Sales Manager at U100....dropped me a comment-line. As usual he reminded me of stories and people whose names I've forgotten. I'll tuck those away for a some-day update.

Since I'm here a couple of quick comments! Defiance....good movie. Would have loved to have someone to talk to after I saw it because it prompted a bunch of deep thoughts.....Taken...going to it today and my brother reports....excellent. Even though politically it wasn't my cup of tea, Nixon & Frost was really good....you have to admire Opie! I've seen some others that I liked but save for later.

Good game yesterday but for most of that game the Vikes could have played just as well as the Cards. My opinion! Politically, I am quite enjoying the current 'season'. What a bunch of maroons! ...and that includes the lily-livered, pusillanimous, so-called Republicans who would benefit by growing a pair! Of course Olympia Snow being one of them the preceding doesn't necessary apply...
I'm rambling and I have shower, fluff and douche and get going.

Will someone please tell me when the last bit of snow melts. I'm not going near Minnesota until I hear it is all gone!

year we should see our next installment in about 2 week? I can't wait.

Hey Cindi.....sometimes I'm a snowbird and sometimes a rainbird. Minnesota can be brutal as you well remember.
I see Mark is a non-believer. He joins so many who doubt my resolve with their snarky comments. Well! You just wait! Not only will there be quantity but also quality.
btw....I got an email from someone in Poland! He is a big fan of the site. He has never been to the U.S. and doesn't have any connection to me or radio. Just surfed, found it, and stuck with it. That means that FIVE people are reading this. Thanks!
And I love kielbasa.

Chapter 24 is a keeper! You're on the clock for chapter 25.

I see a few more photos made it to the site as well, even a couple more from WDUZ. Gotta love those HUGE Gates turntables. (And I still say the music sounded better on vinyl. Well, cue burn excepted.)

Where are you?? Reminds me of Chickenman: "He's everywhere, he's everywhere!"

Hey Marco.....nice to get a positive review. I love atta-boys. Chapter 25 is in the 'thinking' stage and before the week-end will move to the typing stage. I'm serious about this.

I always loved those big old turntables. And the arm seemed to weigh 20 pounds. On my first night at WDGY with small turntables and extremely light tone-arms, I was so nervous my hand was shaking and it took me an hour or so to feel comfortable getting the needle on the disc. Hadn't thought of that in years but that's how the brain works. I listen to vinyl quite a bit and there is a warmth there (along with clicks, scratches, and surface noise) that CD's and computer files can't match.

When a station got the Chickenman series it just seemed like you had arrived. To avoid stalkers and process servers I don't get real specific about my location. When it got cold this winter I went as far as I could go.

Well...it's Monday night....what was on TV tonight...nothing important that's for sure.....They were selling women's trench coats on QVC and wigs on HSN.

Rob

I miss the Chickenman. One of the many great things to come out of Windy City radio. (And Dick Orkin is still at it, making some pretty damn good commercials.) When I was a youngin', guys would look up at the moon and dream of going there some day. I listened to "The Big 89" and "Super CFL" and dreamed about going there some day. I don't think I would have liked some union engineer runnin' my board though.

Not much on TV tonight either. Think I'll take in O'Reilly and an old episode of "12 O'Clock High".

Hey "Rob" just came across your site as one I had bookmarked not too long ago, ah who the hell am I kiddin' feels like a coons age. It's good to read you haven't lost your sauciness. Just thought I'd give you a holler and let you know how much I enjoy reading about all your adventures. If you ever make it back to the land of Ten thousand Laws look me up.
Flaco (Roland)
p.s. The snow melted...Oh wait I just looked outside it's snowing again. CURSE THAT FRIGGIN' GROUNDHOG!
